Anamarie Diaz
Helping musicians grow through education, performance, financial literacy, and community engagement.
Meet Anamarie
Anamarie Diaz is a flutist, educator, arts administrator, and financial educator based in Richmond, Virginia. Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to creating opportunities for musicians to learn, perform, and build sustainable careers in the arts.
Her work exists at the intersection of performance, education, and advocacy. Whether teaching a student, performing on stage, supporting an arts organization, or helping musicians develop financial confidence, Anamarie’s mission is to empower musicians and strengthen the communities they serve.
Teaching
Education has been at the center of Anamarie’s career from the beginning. Through DiazFlute Studios, she provides private flute instruction for students of all ages and experience levels, helping musicians develop strong fundamentals, artistic expression, and confidence.
Anamarie also serves as adjunct flute faculty at Randolph-Macon College and Virginia Commonwealth University, mentoring collegiate musicians and non-musicians.
As an advocate for accessible music education, Anamarie founded the Community Flute Lessons Project, providing free flute instruction and mentorship to students who may not otherwise have access to private lessons. She believes every student deserves the opportunity to experience the creativity, discipline, and joy that music provides.
Performance
Anamarie maintains an active career as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral flutist. She regularly performs with organizations throughout the East Coast, including Opera in Williamsburg, Opera Acadia, and the Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia, and has performed as a substitute musician with the Richmond Symphony.
Her performance experience includes orchestral repertoire, chamber music, contemporary works, and collaborative projects. Recent highlights include performing as guest soloist with the Randolph-Macon College Symphony Orchestra, presenting solo recitals throughout Richmond, and performing with InVa Duo.
Her continued work as a professional musician allows Anamarie to bring current performance experience into her teaching and connect students with the possibilities of a career in music.
Arts Admin
Alongside performing and teaching, Anamarie is passionate about supporting the organizations that make meaningful artistic experiences possible.
She serves as Administrative Manager for the Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia and First Creatures, supporting nonprofit operations, communications, event planning, and organizational growth. Through her administrative work, Anamarie helps arts organizations develop sustainable systems and expand their impact within their communities.
Financial Education
A successful career in music requires more than artistic skill—it also requires confidence managing the business side of being an artist.
Through her Music Money Masterclass and financial education initiatives, Anamarie helps musicians build practical skills in budgeting, taxes, retirement planning, and creating sustainable income streams. Her goal is to make financial education accessible and relevant for artists, empowering musicians to make informed decisions about their careers and futures.
Financial Education
Anamarie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master of Music in Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she also completed a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Musicology.
She has studied with flutists including Tabatha Easley, Erika Boysen, Diana Morgan, and Mary Boodell, and continues to grow as a performer, educator, and advocate for the arts.
Anamarie is proud to call Richmond home, where she balances her professional work with time spent with her family, creative projects, and finding new ways to support musicians and music education in her community.
